Pulse Festival, Ipswich

Last night I went to a Pulse Festival event with my friend Carol, this one was called Lovedrunk, and we weren't quite sure what to expect. However, we were pleasantly surprised and it was actually really brilliant. There was one guy on stage, and on the theme of loving somebody who no longer loves you, he used diagologue, theatre, video, music and a bit of dance as a response to the theme. The result was funny, sad, clever and poignant.

Last week we saw the double dance bill Cope and Two by Two. Again Two by Two was excellent and the intimacy of the Wolsey studio allowed you to get really close to the dance and almost feel part of it. Cope turned out to be a work in progress and was based on domestic violence. We both found it very difficult to watch and I can't really see who it would appeal to, on any level.

For £5 though, both events were great value and gave the audiance the chance to take a risk on some completely unknowns.
